Canada Resumes Visitor Visa and eTA Processing

Though the travel restrictions are still in place, IRCC yet again has decided to process online visitor visa and electronic travel authorizations (eTA) applications. As of 1st July 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is all set to resume processing for Canada visitor visa while prioritizing speedy future processing times.

IRCC however, has acknowledged that because of the ongoing travel restrictions, most of the people will be unable to visit Canada at this point of time. This is because certain travel exemptions are laid down only for family members who plan to stay for over 15 days in Canada or who are planning to visit Canada for vital reasons.

It’s essential for the travelers to exhibit such important reasons to the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) for being granted entry into Canada. IRCC is also undertaking processes for online applications with regards to study permits, work permits and Canada PR. However, paper-based applications are not being accepted as of now.

Canada has taken relevant measures in order to make sure that applicants are provided with sufficient time to get done with all the steps involved in the application process, for example, submission of biometrics. Many visa application centers (VACs) are now opening up across the globe.

Upon entry into Canada, it’s still a compulsory requisite for the applicants to stay in quarantine for 14 days. An adequate quarantine plan is also necessary to be demonstrated to the border agents.
